Professional School Counselors League targets mental health professionals at their practice address who specialize in understanding and treating addictions and the impact the addiction has on the client, family, and society. These professionals treat patients and work within an established protocol used for treating addicts. Counselors are certified psychologists, therapists, or other medical professionals.
Professional School Counselors help patients or students achieve their educational goals, improve personal/social development, and how to deal with new issues that arise in school. School counselors teach students the best way to handle tough situations, which career path would be best and how to start planning their future. Counselors are used in elementary schools, private institutions, middle schools, college, universities, and high schools. They conduct special tests for the students about school, behavior, and future plans to help with the planning process. They also communicate with the parents of their students to include them in on developmental and career plans.
Counselors perform a series of interviews and use that information to provide constructive advice to improve the patient's health. Some incorporate spirituality into therapeutic treatments. The goal is to address underlying psychological needs from a variety of perspectives.
Counselors must express a high degree of empathy for others. They are trained to see the signs of addiction, and to cope with patients who are struggling to overcome various personal or mental health issues.
To practice as a mental health counselor, most have completed a master’s degree in counseling or a related field, followed by two years of clinical training working with patients, and successful completion of a certification exam. These medical professionals may be required to attend continuing education classes to maintain their certification, depending on where they practice. Many also belong to professional organizations to maintain professional credentials.
Counselors are well educated and have the discretionary income to travel, purchase products and services online or offline, hire construction and lawn maintenance professionals to care for their home, use credit cards, purchase professional clothing, and manage their personal financial portfolio and enjoying investing.
This list is ideal for any mental health continuing education courses, medical supplies, business publications, office supply catalogs, insurance, and credit card offers.
