DESCRIPTION
These prospective students are interested in receiving or continuing their education in jobs that allow them to have knowledge of civilizations and the historical events that lead to today’s modern human culture. These students have an appreciation and a broad perspective of the human condition developed through a deep historical understanding. They have researched the courses they need to take to receive a degree such as a Bachelors, Masters or PHD Doctorate in History. Individuals looking to receive or continue their education in accounting would seek admission to the College of Art and Sciences: Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. They would enroll in courses and classes such as American History, European History and Culture, Into to East Asian Culture, Intro to Black Studies, Intro to Native American Studies, Women’s Studies, Foundations of Islamic Civilizations, Methods of Teaching, American Government, Anthropology, Cultural Ecology, and Social Studies. They will also obtain information on core classes such as English, Economics, Math, Science, and Humanities that are required for most majors. Not only will they seek information online, but they often follow up with a school or career counselor to determine the courses and degree to pursue. They may also gather information on financial aid available such as student loans, grants, fellowships, and scholarships. They will fill out a FAFSA form to determine their ability to pay. Many of these students will inquire into living on campus and the availability of campus housing and dorms.
They will find employment in industries such as education, governmental, business, law, politics, and communications. After these individuals graduate, they will seek job positions within these industries as a teachers, professors, historians, archivists, librarians, information specialists, writers, researchers, and politicians. These individuals would purchase laptops, home computers, software, printers, electronics like i-pods and PDAs, text books, paper, pencils, calculators, backpacks, binders, notebooks, desks, lamps, and historical memorabilia.
