DESCRIPTION

Construction Trends targets professional commercial and residential building professionals. These individuals build commercial and residential structures such as single family homes, multifamily housing developments, office buildings, industrial structures, roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, water treatment facilities and other various building projects.  These general contractors and other building professionals are responsible for building and remodeling structures, while putting safety procedures in place, preparing and staying on budgets, and on schedule. They coordinate work schedules and deliveries to make sure the building site is run efficiently.

Jobs for construction workers are heavily dependent on the economy. When the economy is good, then the construction industry is booming. While general contractor duties may include some or all the work associated with a construction project, especially carpentry, more specialized work, such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical may be subcontracted out.

These individuals enter the construction industry through a variety of educational and training backgrounds.  They must have proficiency in reading and mathematics.  They must follow architectural plans and blue prints to help understand the layout of the construction.  Their knowledge and abilities include: remodeling, preservation, carpentry, concrete, drywall, framing, roofing, finish carpentry, pile driving, paving, drilling rigs, equipment operators, welding, electrical, and plumbing.
