Psychologists may provide one-on-one or group therapy to addicts. A psychologist may encourage addicts to share their stories with others in order to learn through self-reflection. Mental Health professionals help addicts get to the root of their addictions to help them to learn behavioral management skills so that they are better able to cope with addiction.

Cognitive and Behavioral Psychologists help patients deal with their emotions and create specific plans to help them think a certain way to avoid certain behaviors. Disorders treated may include phobias, addiction, anxiety, and depression. Psychologists administer tests, assessments and other ways to collect information on the patient to track their progress. Patients are recommended to attend one on one therapy sessions, group sessions, and other helpful classes.
