DESCRIPTION

Public Relations Executives from Hospitals Trends targets officers responsible for maintaining the public image of the hospital and managing communication between the organization and the public.  These executives develop and implement the hospital’s overall PR program which includes media and community relations, internal communications, and investor relations.

The public relations programs are designed to increase the understanding and acceptance of the hospital’s mission, vision, and goals.  Public relations officers are the official spokesperson of the organization, and they also provide communications coaching to other executives.  They direct the staff and programs of the public relations department, creating budgets and maintaining expenditures. These decisionmakers must be organized and detail oriented to manage staff and vendors.

These administrators are employed by hospitals that are local, state, federal, church, military or corporately owned. The executive’s daily activities vary greatly based on bed size, number of patients they care for and whether the institution is a long term acute care, physical rehabilitation, psychiatric, children’s, or general medical/surgical hospital. Directors rely on new technology enhancements, continuing education programs, learning new managerial skills and techniques, attending trade shows, and reading medical and business journals to stay current in their field.

This target is made up of professional, intelligent, well-educated, driven, ambitious, and accomplished individuals.  They typically have a masters or doctorate degree.  They tend to be older and have extensive and impressive work experience.  Most belong to community and professional organizations. They are leaders, volunteers, and role-models in the community.   They do a considerable amount of business travel to medical and business conventions, conferences, and meetings.
