DESCRIPTION

OB/GYN Department Directors from Hospital Trends targets hospital officers who oversee the department which provides care for women and their reproductive organs before, during, and after pregnancy.  They direct the staff and programs of the obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) department, creating budgets and maintaining expenditures. 

These decisionmakers develop and implement policies and procedures for OB/GYN services and programs, ensuring top quality care for patients.  Quality of care audits are performed as outlined by hospital policy.  They must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures as they oversee all aspects of gynecological health.  The executives must be organized and detail oriented to manage staff and vendors.

These administrators are employed by hospitals that are local, state, federal, church, military or corporately owned. The executive’s daily activities vary greatly based on bed size, number of patients they care for and whether the institution is a long term acute care, physical rehabilitation, psychiatric, children’s, or general medical/surgical hospital. These medical professionals rely on new technology enhancements, continuing education programs, learning new managerial skills and techniques, attending trade shows, and reading medical and business journals to stay current in their field.
