Executive Directory of Treasurers allows you to target individuals that oversees an organization’s investment activities in securities exchanges and in private transactions. A treasurer directs financial planning, procurement, and investment of funds for an organization. A treasurer is responsible for collecting funds and ensuring that they are deposited at the organization's financial institution. A treasurer oversees various aspects of finances of organization’s - the accounting, the cash flows, asset management, and the receivables managements. They analyze financial records to forecast future financial position and budget requirements, evaluates need for procurement of funds and investment of surplus and advises on investments and loans for short and long range financial plans. A treasurer also looks into the budgeting of costs and cost management done by an organization. A treasurer uses an organization’s cash to buy or sell financial instruments such as stocks, bonds or derivative products with a profit motive. Treasurer’s may also engage in lending activities on bond markets or in private deals. They have the final say on the business financing policies of an organization. More often than not, it is he/she who brings in all the financial policies into place and has a ruling on the investment decisions based on return on investment which the organization makes. They are well versed with the laws governing financial reporting and corporate governance affairs.
A treasurer typically holds an advanced diploma such as a master's or a doctorate degree. Majors that are common among treasurers include finance, accounting, investment analysis, tax and business administration. A treasurer also may hold a professional certification such as a certified public accountant (CPA), a certified financial manager (CFM) or a certified treasury professional (CTP) designation.
